2026 CoT - Week 1 Session
Week 1 Curriculum
"Back to the Future: Time Travel"
Welcome to the 2026 Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW), Dr. Sachiko Juno, Center of Transformation (CoT) Program! We are thrilled to have CoT Tweens (ages 12-13), Teens (ages 14-18), and Facilitators joining us for our fourth year of CoT! Our 2026 theme is “Back to the Future with Technology. The goal is to appreciate how past technology has shaped our current technology and envision our future technological needs. CoT details can be found at: https://www.clubhouseatyourhouse.com.
In Week 1, we will provide an overview of the CoT program to ensure all participants understand the basics of how the program will run. This week’s topic is “Back to the Future with Technology: Time Travel.” We will provide an overview of the CoT program and explore the evolution of technology through the lens of a time machine traveling back in time. This year, we will initiate our journey by traveling through time to understand how technology has evolved and how it has impacted our lives in the past, present, and future! Join us each week on this journey!

Objectives: During this session, members will :

CoT Program Introduction & Theme Exploration: Be introduced to the CoT program goals and the overarching "Back to the Future w/ Technology" theme.

Time Machine Travel - Technology Evolution: Delve into the history of technology, framed around the concept of a time machine traveling to the past, present, and future.

Project Team Selections: Organize into age-specific project teams (Tweens: ages 12-13) and (Teens: ages 14-18), and select their team names. Tweens should be placed on project teams with Tweens. Teens should be placed on project teams with other teens. The average project team size should be 5 team members.

Assessment & Engagement: Conclude with a fun and competitive Kahoot! game to assess program understanding and reinforce key concepts.

Select a Project Team Name & Members
Members at each club or site will work together as part of a team. Tweens (ages 12-13) should be organized on a team and Teens (ages 14-18) should be organized on a team. Do not mix Tweens & Teens on the same team!

Weekly Activity #2
Kahoot! Game Competition
Prizes:
1st Place ($25 Gift Card), 2nd Place ($15 Gift Card) & 3rd Place ($10 Gift Card)
Members will compete against each other to demonstrate their knowledge on the Center of Transformation and "Back to the Future with Technology " theme. There are 20 questions. The goal is to answer the most questions correctly and the fastest will get the most points. Top three winners will receive a prize.
