Resources: Paper, pencil, colored pencils, Chrome Music Lap access, phone or tablet to record an audio song/rap.

Instructions:

1. Create a Music Beat: Use Chrome Music Lab at: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com to create a 1-2 minute music beat based on a popular 1980s or 1990s song.

  • Once you enter Chrome Music Lab, click on Song Maker to begin making your beat.

  • Choose an instrument (Marimba, Piano, Strings, Woodwind, or Synth).

  • Choose a drum beat (Electronic, Block, Kit, or Congo).

  • Set the tempo to a speed and you will be able to add musical notes, set your beat and test the song here.

  • When finished building the music beat, click Save and copy the URL link and submit it using the Music, Song, & Game Worksheet at:  https://forms.office.com/r/h13LeZPZRZ.

  • Note: Project Teams can use another software or app other than Chrome Music Lab (for up to 10 bonus points if the final music beat is of quality).

  • Work as a team to write a song or rap. This must be an original song or rap.

  • Use paper and a pencil, MS Word or Google Docs to write song or rap lyrics as a project team. Focus on how music technology has changed (past to present) or describe the future of music technology.

  • Record the song or rap and place it in a GoogleDrive folder or another file share location and share the link to the song using the Music, Song, & Game Worksheet at:  https://forms.office.com/r/h13LeZPZR.

3. Create a Music Guessing Game:

  • Use paper or Google Slides, photos, images, and other accessible tools to create your own music or song card game where players have to guess the 1980s or 1990s song or music artist.

  • Create a 5-8 prompt cards, one for each musical artist or song only using images (no words). Each card could be held up and others can try to get the song or artist based on the image.

  • Save the document and share the file by creating the file link. Please make sure access is given to share your link for opening by others using the Music, Song, & Game Worksheet at:  https://forms.office.com/r/h13LeZPZR.  If a link cannot be created email the file to cot@bgcgw.org with the Project Team Name.

All: Submit Your Music Beat, Song/Rap, or Game. Once, you have completed your beat. Save it and copy and paste your link to the Project Team’s music beat, song, or game prompts using the Week 3 Music or Game Worksheet online at: https://forms.office.com/r/h13LeZPZRZ.
